Move from SongbookPro to Stage Friend
A SongbookPro backup moves your whole library to Stage Friend in two steps: make the backup, then drop it in. Moving doesn't mean typing your songs in again, because Stage Friend reads that one file and brings every song with its lyrics, chords and key, and every set as a setlist in the same order. It takes a couple of minutes, and you can look through the result before you make an account. The switch page compares the two apps if you're still deciding.
1Make a backup in SongbookPro
The backup is the best way out of SongbookPro, because one file holds your whole library and all your sets. In SongbookPro, open Settings, then Backup & Sync, and choose Backup Library. Save the .sbpbackup file somewhere you can reach from the device you'll use Stage Friend on: Google Drive, Dropbox or an email to yourself all work.
2Drop it into Stage Friend
Start an import, choose SongbookPro and drop the file in, or tap the box to pick it. Your songs land in your library, and your sets can become setlists, ready to play top to bottom. A song that sits in several sets ends up in each of those setlists, in its place. If you only want one song or one set, a single .sbp file shared from SongbookPro works the same way, and so do songs shared as ChordPro files. To see it first, drop the backup at go.stagefriend.app/try: your library and sets show on your device, and nothing is kept until you choose to keep it.
What stays behind
A few things stay in SongbookPro: folders, anything you drew on a song with the pen, and PDFs. Stage Friend has no folders, so you find songs by searching and sorting instead, and search looks in the lyrics too, so a line you remember is enough. Tempo and capo are not kept either, so set the tempo in the metronome and use transpose instead of a capo. For the cues you used to scribble in, Solo Pro and Stage Pro have notes on the lyrics.
Once you're in, open one of your setlists and swipe from song to song the way you did in SongbookPro, see Play a setlist. From there, set up autoscroll or a page turner pedal, and if you play with others, invite your band on Solo Pro or Stage Pro so everyone has the same songs.
Questions
- Do my SongbookPro sets come over?
- Yes, the sets in a SongbookPro backup come over as setlists in Stage Friend, with their songs in the same order. On the free plan, which has room for three setlists, they're made in the app when they fit next to the setlists you already have; otherwise the import brings the songs and you build the setlists you need from them. Solo Pro and Stage Pro have no setlist limit, and a preview at go.stagefriend.app/try turns every set into a setlist when you keep it.
- Do SongbookPro folders and pen annotations transfer?
- No, folders and pen drawings stay in SongbookPro. The text comes across: lyrics, chords, keys and sets.
