Move from Setlist Helper to Stage Friend

A Setlist Helper backup moves your songs and your setlists to Stage Friend in two steps: make the backup, then drop it in. The backup holds Setlist Helper's whole database, so every song comes over with its lyrics, chords, artist and key, and every setlist with its songs in the right order. You don't retype anything, and you can look through the result before you make an account. The switch page compares the two apps if you're still deciding.

1Make a backup in Setlist Helper

Use the backup rather than an export, because it's the only way your setlists come along. In Setlist Helper, open the menu at the top left, then Settings, and choose Backup setlist helper database. Pick Dropbox or the SD card, then a folder, and the backup is saved there. The file has the date and time as its name and no ending, which is right: Stage Friend recognises it by what's inside.

    2Drop it into Stage Friend

Start an import, choose Setlist Helper and drop the backup in, or tap the box to pick it. Your songs land in your library and your setlists can come along with their order, ready to play. The ChordPro files from Setlist Helper's export work too, but they carry only songs, so use the backup if your setlists matter. To see your catalogue first, drop the backup at go.stagefriend.app/try: it is read on your device, and nothing is kept until you choose to keep it.

    What stays behind

PDFs, documents and audio files stay in Setlist Helper, and tempos are not kept, so set the tempo in the metronome. The set break markers inside a setlist, like End of set 1, are left out too. If your setlist had two sets, split it into sets again in Stage Friend, which also adds up the length of each set. On the free plan, which has room for three setlists, your setlists are made in the app when they fit next to the ones you already have; otherwise the songs come in and you build the setlists you need.

Once you're in, open one of your setlists and swipe from song to song, see Play a setlist. Then give your songs a length where the backup had none, so each set adds up its running time, and invite your band on Solo Pro or Stage Pro so everyone has the same songs.

    Questions

Do my Setlist Helper setlists come across?
Yes, when you import the backup file, your setlists arrive with their songs in the right order, as long as the free plan's three setlists have room for them; Solo Pro and Stage Pro have no limit. The ChordPro export from the Songs menu carries only songs.
Why does the Setlist Helper backup file have no file ending?
Setlist Helper saves its backup with the date as the name and no ending, and that's the file Stage Friend expects. Drop it in as it is, without renaming it.
