What your pedal can do in Stage Friend
Each pedal can do up to three things: a press, a double press and a hold. The common keys scroll the lyrics and change songs without any setup, and you can give every press its own command, such as Next song or Start autoscroll. No. The test runs in your browser, with no sign-up and nothing to install. Nothing you press is sent anywhere, unless you choose to send us your test.
Yes. This page reads the keys with Stage Friend's own code and the same timings. Keys that scroll, like Space and the arrows, answer at once in both. One difference: in the app, any other key waits for a double press or a hold only when you have given it one, so a plain press of it answers a little quicker there.
Page turners that act as a Bluetooth keyboard, which is most of them, such as AirTurn, PageFlip, Donner and iRig BlueTurn. What each can send differs from pedal to pedal and from mode to mode, and we have not tried every model. That is what this test is for.
Yes. Open this page on the device the pedal is paired with: an iPad, iPhone, Android tablet or phone, or a computer.
Many pedals send one short press however long you hold them. If yours has a Repeat switch, turn it on: then it keeps sending while you hold it, and Stage Friend reads that as a hold. If not, press and double press still give each pedal two commands, or try another mode on the pedal. Still stuck?
